Pelvic Rebalancing Exercise

Sometimes patients come to see me who aren’t in pain as such, but feel that their backs are out of alignment and are on the verge of getting worse. Often these patients have experienced serious problems with their backs in the past, and recognise the warning signs leading up to an episode of serious back pain.

What I often find in these patients is a misalignment of their pelvis which can manifest with as a small leg length difference and a twist going up their spine. I talk in a bit more detail about the problem in this article.

Here is an exercise that patients can try if they think their pelvis is out. This is an ‘at home’  version of an exercise I have consistently found useful when trying to correct pelvic misalignment in my patients. If you hear or feel a little click from the front of your pelvis when you do the exercise, then don’t worry, this is just the joint at the front releasing.

If this exercise causes any pain or you are unsure how to perform it, then don’t do it.
