Correct Your Posture with Forward Head Exercises

Here at Osteo Studio, we aim to help our clients help themselves with their pain. One of the best ways to do this is to engage in exercises as well as Osteopathic treatments. If you are a patient that has been told by me that you have a ‘forward head’ position, then these are two exercises which can help correct your posture.

The second exercise is actually just a variation of the first (The chin tuck). It’s probably more effective than the basic chin tuck, but may be more difficult for some people to perform as it’s done laying on your front with your upper back arched back (extended). If you find this version too uncomfortable just stick to the basic chin tuck.

Please note that these exercises aren’t suitable for people in the middle of a neck pain flare up, or people who have a neck problem and aren’t sure of the cause. They are best performed when you are in a pain free state. As always, with any exercise I recommend, if you experience anything more than mild discomfort when doing them , then please stop doing them and get some advice about your problem.

Exercise 1 - The basic chin tuck.

Exercise 2 - The Sphinx
